With the sun shining, and summer just around the corner, the winter Olympics may be the last thing on many peoples mind, but not for the business Community in Kamloops.
Venture Kamloops is in full swing working on Olympic related activities to satisfy the Olympic enthusiasm in the community. Here are just a few examples of what Venture Kamloops has been up to:

On April 26th, Venture Kamloops in partnership with the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce hosted a 2010 Procurement Workshop. The workshop was delivered by the 2010 Commerce Centre and provided individuals information on where to find opportunities, how to prepare successful bids and where to go for support. The event was a great success. There was a great buzz and excitement in the room with over 85 people sharing their ideas and experiences.
"The business community's involvement with this workshop was very good, and certainly one of the largest turnouts we've seen outside the lower mainland. I believe Kamloops is ripe for games-related opportunities.
With the experience, skill level and enthusiasm seen from the businesses in attendance, I'm sure we'll see more 2010 contracts coming into Kamloops."

Venture Kamloops is chair or the 2010 Business Subcommittee. Members of the subcommittee include the City of Kamloops, the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, a representative from the Kamloops Spirit of BC Committee and Community Futures Development Corporations of Thompson Country.
The committee was formed to devise ways to work together as a community to assist and support businesses in Kamloops benefit from Olympic opportunities. The committee has just completed a strategic plan and is working together on projects to support businesses in accessing Olympic opportunities through information sharing and the delivery of informative workshops. Stay tuned for more to come.
