Kamloops Welcomes Canadian Western Bank's New Full Service Branch

The newest branch of the Canadian Western Bank opened in Kamloops on September 21, 2009, at #101-1211 Summit Drive. The four original employees from the equipment financing division were joined by 10 new employees, most of who are from Kamloops, bringing the total number of employees at the bank to 14. The bank operates Monday to Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm.

Canadian Western Bank is a financial institution which focuses solely on Western Canada with branches from Victoria to Winnipeg and a corporate office in Edmonton. A full-range of services are offered at the bank including commercial lending, real estate loans, business banking, personal banking and investment opportunities.

Canadian Western Bank has had their equipment financing division in Kamloops for the past 7 years. Focusing on some of Kamloops’ economic strengths, mainly forestry and transportation, the equipment financing division had been very successful. With a strong confidence in our local market, Canadian Western Bank now offers Kamloops and area residents another banking option offering their full-range of services together with their equipment financing division. Kamloops Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager Peter Greenway is pleased Canadian Western Bank has chosen to invest in Kamloops. Despite tough economic times when many banks are constricting rather than expanding their operations and credit granting policies, Canadian Western Bank felt the Kamloops' economy would be strong enough to support an expansion.

Canadian Western Bank is committed to supporting the community as evidenced by their sponsorship of the World Masters Games in March 2010 and Western Canada Games in August 2011. As one of Canada’s Top 50 Employers for the last 3 years, Canadian Western Bank prides itself on attracting and retaining it's employees; 95% of whom are shareholders.

Kamloops Daily News - Gold Corporate Partner Spotlight

Kamloops Daily News publishes its newspaper six days a week at its location at 393 Seymour St.

The paper started in 1931 when George Duncan Browne produced the weekly Kamloops Shopper. In 1937, George Dawson and Watt Francis took it over and named it the Kamloops Advertiser, and it continued as such until 1963 when news items were added to the content.

In 1965, the name was changed to Kamloops-North Kamloops Advertiser, then the Kamloops News Advertiser a year later. The paper began publishing twice a week in 1968; only two months later a Friday edition was added. The “Advertiser” was dropped from the name in 1973.

On August 16, 1982, The Kamloops News began publishing Monday through Friday evenings with paid circulation. On May 31, 1986, a Saturday edition was added and the name soon changed to the Kamloops Daily News.

On Thursday morning, September 14, 1995, Kamloops residents awoke to find the Daily News on their doorstep as Kamloops received its first daily morning newspaper.

Today, the Kamloops Daily News continues to be published six days a week and is the most commonly read local newspaper in Kamloops.
