VK Accelerate Success Franca Muraca
After a very rewarding and successful twenty-five-year career as a secondary French and English teacher, Franca embarked on a brand-new career in Kamloops as a notary public. Although extensively trained in the areas of Real Estate and Estate Planning law, her training was limited when it came the challenges and necessities of opening up a small business, so she decided to turn to the Venture Kamloops Accelerate Program for business advise, industry partnerships and available resources to assist her on her new path.
The VK Accelerate Program and partners gave Franca quick access to financing, coaching, industry experts to assist with finding and leasing a suitable office space, interior design expertise, branding and marketing expertise, and on-going mentorship and advise. Franca is also the first VK Accelerate candidate to be showcased with feature articles in Kamloops This Week over the first year of her business. The articles will follow the trials and tribulations of being a start-up business in Kamloops.
Born and raised in Kamloops, Franca is very passionate about this city and her ties to the community run deep. She graduated from NorKam Secondary School in 1988 and enrolled at the University College of the Cariboo, now Thompson Rivers University. After completing a university transfer, she headed to UBC to complete an undergrad degree with a double major in French and English. She then enrolled in Simon Fraser’s Professional Development Program, being selected as part of a specialty group that did the entire training in French. She became a teacher in 1993 and completed her first master’s degree in Administration and Curriculum in 2002. In 2017, Franca enrolled in Simon Fraser University but this time in the department of criminology. She completed her second master’s degree, this time in Applied Law. She continued to complete her studies fulfilling the additional requirements of The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia and was commissioned in June 2019 as a notary public.
Whether as an educator or as a legal professional, Franca is driven by a core value of service. Working with Venture Kamloops has made many resources and business contacts available to her to assist with the challenges of small business start-up. Franca is very excited to offer her services for estate planning, document notarizations and real estate transactions.
